McDaniel College Budapest

Entrance Exam Locations
All applicants (with the exceptions listed below) are required to take an entrance examination either in Budapest or in the applicant's home country. The entrance exam in Budapest is arranged for applicants from Hungary and the neighboring countries.

For applicants from Africa, Asia and the Middle East the local representative of College International will arrange entrance exams in their home countries. For locations and dates, visit and contact the local representative. If there is no local representative in your home country, you should verify your proficiency in English by a valid score of at least 65 on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). This American language proficiency exam can be taken in all countries of the world. For test dates, locations and online registration for the test, visit Equivalent scores on the British language test IELTS (5.0) will also be accepted. If you have not taken either of the above language proficiency tests but you feel that level of your English is at least upper intermediate and you have the appropriate academic qualifications, it is possible to consider your admission. Should it, however, turn out on arrival that your assessment of your language skills was wrong, you will be referred to the one-year Foundation Program that will help you improve your language skills before you can enter the four-year degree program.

The entrance examination consists of a multiple choice language proficiency test in English, a Test of Written English, an essay assignment on general topics for Art History, Studio Art, Communication and Political Science majors, or a test in Mathematics (Arithmetic and Basic Algebra) for Business and Economics majors, and a personal interview.
  • For applicants wishing to enter the program in the Fall Semester, the examinations in Budapest are usually held in the third week of June. Another entrance exam is offered for late applicants in the third week of August.
