The conference, sponsored by the International Centre for Democratic Change, headquartered in Budapest, invited speakers from various countries including Afghanistan, Canada, Sweden, Cuba, America, and Sri Lanka to describe how women' s roles are changing and the role women are playing in transition countries. Many of the students attending were enrolled in Prof. Cesar Beltran' s special seminar on "Crises, Communications, and International Relations."
Sarah Martin, a sophomore and study abroad student from California, said, "It was amazing to hear women from all over the world speak about their lives. I' m really grateful that I had the opportunity to do this while studying in Budapest."
