Fifth graduation
McDaniel Budapest celebrates its fifth graduation

On May 23, 2008, McDaniel College Budapest bid farewell and good luck to its graduating class. The 14 students, from 10 countries around the world, are the fifth group of students to complete four years of study at the Budapest campus since the Budapest program was expanded in September, 2004.

Flags representing the students' home countries were displayed in the College' s auditorium as the graduates entered during the academic procession. The commencement program included an address to the graduates by Dr. Laszlo Frenyo, Dean of the Faculty, and classical musical selections by the artists of the Jobbagy Quartet. Ziang Le Honag, from Viet Nam, was selected by his fellow graduates to address the College. His address included greetings to the audience in English, Hungarian, and Vietnamese. Professor Linda Van Hart visiting professor from the Art and Art History Department, represented the main campus, and Robert Mearkle, Vice Consul, attended on behalf of the United States Embassy.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held for graduates and attended by more than 100 students, faculty, parents, and guests. During the reception guests could also view an art exhibition assembled from students' work in the Watercolor and Mixed Media Collage classes.
